Dear Praying Friends, Customers and Supporters of the Open Door Project,

A banner-style image with a cyan/turquoise green background. In large letters are the words "Take Note", with capitalised but smaller words underneath it reading "Recommended Resources at Great Pricess".

Most of the banner relates to Christian books, Bibles and music items ranging from £9.99 to £31 depending on the items. A larger image of the printed Take Note magazine sits at the right of the image.

Take Note to Find Your Offers

Early Notice! The next issue of the Take Note consignment will be available in the Bookshop sometime in August…! Email newsletter subscribers will receive the PDF for choice of books in due course.

Connecting With Your Church

There are still people in the churches in Inverness who don’t know that The Open Door Project Bookshop is now open.

It was encouraging to hear that one of the local churches has the information in their weekly Church notices.

We are trying our best to get the word out but we need ALL the churches in Inverness and across the Highlands to be part of this Mission.

If you read this letter and this doesn’t happen in your church, could you have a word with the Administrator or whoever is responsible for the notices, please?

Thank you!

Margaret Cameron, Your Volunteer

Margaret, one of our volunteers is stood in a relaxed fashion at the service desk. She wears a large smile, glasses and a denim jacket. Her hands are clasped in front of her on the counter-top.

And, as we're a bookshop, naturally, behind her a few of those on the wall.

I’m Margaret Cameron (Mags). I live near Dingwall and have 3 adult sons and a lovely daughter-in-law.

I, along with many others, was very sad when the CLC Christian bookshop had to close in Inverness in 2020.

I have always been very interested in the vision of The Open Door Project and followed their regular prayer updates with great interest and was delighted when I heard they had found premises to open a Christian bookshop with space for folks to drop in for a chat, listening ear, prayer support with or without a cup of coffee/tea.

Following early retirement from district nursing, I was glad to now be available to do some voluntary work e.g. Hospice Befriending, Morning Call charity and have just started with The Open Door Project in June.

As a new recruit, I’m gradually learning the ropes and finding it a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord in the bookshop, meeting so many different people each day.

If you have free time and are interested in volunteering here, I can assure you that you will be warmly welcomed and very well mentored by Esther and Leslie and fellow volunteers.

Date For Your Diary

The Open Door Project partner with the CYC in sharing the building.

The next annual CYC fund-raising supper evening will be D.V. in Smithton Church on Friday 4th September at 6pm for 6.30pm. The catering will be done by AI Butchers and volunteers. Menu choices will be circulated at least a fortnight before the time. It is important that menu choices are returned a week before the supper evening to allow the caterers time to organise the meals. These supper evenings have been blessed occasions. This year we will hear from The Open Door Project and from Bethany Hamilton, recently appointed Scripture Union worker in the Merkinch area. These are exciting developments. Please come along and invite a friend.

That's Friday 4th September at 6pm for 6.30pm.

Moray Coast Convention - Your Prayers

A banner image for the Moray Coast Convention. As well as the event's name, on the left is a simple 2D icon. This has some deep blue outline mountains that slant to the left, a very large orange to yellow setting sun, and orange lines under the mountains, mimicking the sun's reflection on water. Two loose V-shapes in dark blue representing birds are visible in front of the sun also.

The only other words are in orange and are "Hearing, Welcoming, Serving".

Leslie and I will be taking a sizeable bookstall to the Summer 2026 - Moray Coast Convention.

We will be there on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th of July.

Please pray for good sales and stamina!

The month of July has been quiet in the Bookshop but we look forward to many more of you finding us.

Thank you to all of you who read this letter and continue to pray and support The Open Door Project.

Yours in His care,

Esther Dowey on behalf of The Open Door Project team
