Video: How Your TODP Christian Bookshop Started

For any of you who are wondering how The Open Door Project got to where we are now, this video will give you a bit of an insight. It also tells you why this project got off the ground and its purpose. For any questions regarding the story or if you want to volunteer, just get in touch.

Note: You may have to tap the video twice to play it, especially if you haven't set your cookie preferences. You will still be able to enjoy the video, even if you deny all cookies. Thanks!

Introducing Your Volunteer - Dot!

A photograph of a smiling woman giving a slight sideways glance and wearing a soft red scarf.

I'm Dot Getliffe. I used to be a Drama Teacher, Scripture Union Staff, and retrained as a Deacon(ess) with the Church of Scotland. David and I have 2 adult daughters and I belong to Inverness St Columba Church.

I'm volunteering with TODP Tuesday mornings, connecting with passers-by in Bank St. I try to read a bit of a Christian book every day to boost and challenge my faith, so I feel very much at home. Deacons work ecumenical as ministers of Word and Service, so in my retirement, this venture fits perfectly!

Maybe Your Volunteering Opportunity?

Volunteer opportunity for working from home. We are looking for a person who has got any marketing experience on Social Media or is confident in using various Social Media platforms. At the moment, we are just using Facebook but we could reach a wider audience if someone could step into the breach and use their skills that way.

For Your Prayers and His Praise

  1. We continue to thank God for all the support we get from individuals and churches, both in prayer but also in donations.

  2. We continue to praise God for our volunteers who are increasingly taking on more responsibilities so that the load can be shared. Praise God!

  3. While we pray for more customers, it has been encouraging to note that many come intentionally, making TODP their first choice and are prepared to wait if an item they are looking for is not in stock.

  4. Please pray as we prepare the Bookshop for Christmas. It will need some imagination to shift the stock around to make space for Christmas cards, calendars, diaries etc.

  5. We have been encouraged by individuals who are "seeking" either looking for a Bible or have other questions. Please pray for more opportunities and for lives transformed through a personal encounter with Jesus.

  6. Please pray the right volunteer(s) step forward to assist in publicising TODP and the Bookshop through Social Media. If you could be that person, please get in touch!

Thank You!

We hope to see some of you at the Week of Prayer. We are conscious of the fact that you, the reader of this letter, prays for us, thank you!

Yours in Jesus,

Esther Dowey

on behalf of The Open Door Project Team
