September 2026 News & Prayer Update
Dear Friends and Supporters of The Open Door Project,
Buckie Bookstall
First of all, I would like to thank all those of you who have prayed for us regarding the Bookstall at the Moray Coast Convention in Buckie.
We felt well sustained and upheld through the exertion.
In this Edition:

Above everything else, we just loved meeting all these people who have made the effort of the bookstall really worthwhile.
We were also grateful for the support of the organisers who made sure we were well represented and visible at the event.
It was so good to see some familiar faces we haven’t seen for years as well as meeting up with friends. Thank you!

For Your Prayers and His Praise
September is the month when the Christmas stock makes an appearance. I'm very conscious of the limited space we have so we are going to face the challenge of being able to display everything in an orderly way.
We continue to look for additional trustees, especially someone to take over the Finance but also a Secretary for The Open Door Project Charity. If you know of someone who has experience along those lines, please send them in our direction. Alternatively, please pray for these areas of the project to be sustained.
Please pray for more customers to come into the bookshop. Some days are very quiet but we are encouraged by those who find us from some distant places.
Thank you to all the churches who promote the bookshop to their congregations.
Thank the Lord for all the amazing team of volunteers! I'm very grateful for the commitment and willingness they all display. So much so that I can start thinking of planning a day off.
Introducing Your Volunteer - Erica!
My name is Erica, I am 48, married to Keith. I have a son Ethan (18) with additional needs.
Ethan and I run a small business called Bags of Fun Highland.
We are part of the congregation at Culduthel Christian Centre who have supported us all so much. At CCC I am involved in various ministries, but I always have had a heart for pastoral care and sharing the gospel with others.
We have all been through so much in our lives, but the steadfast love and provision of the Lord helps us each day to overcome. When you have been found low and loved by the Lord so completely, you can't help but want everyone else to know the Lord Jesus too.
I love books, I love Christian gifts. I have been given books, and so much encouragement from others that has helped me keep going through the years. As soon as I heard about TODP the Lord was stirring my heart to get involved. I am passionate about the broken people of this city and I want God to use me.

[ToDP] is a great wee place where I enjoy coming in and being part of a fantastic team. - Erica
I completely depend on Him to serve. I often feel so broken and inadequate to serve God, but I know that the strength to serve and share God's love depends on Him and not on me.
Since getting involved at TODP I have loved meeting so many Christians from around the local area and speaking to visitors and people who do not know Jesus. It is a great wee place where I enjoy coming in and being part of a fantastic team.
The only thing is I need to stop buying all the stuff myself! Please come and join the team if you are considering volunteering. God is so good. He is faithful and serving on His team is a privilege.
Thank You!
Once again, I don’t want to leave you without saying a big Thank You to our customers, some of you are becoming regulars.
Where would we be without all those of you who keep praying for The Open Door Project?
Thank you!
Yours in HIM,
Esther Dowey
on behalf of The Open Door Project Team
